You have a 15 CFM airflow. How many L/min is that? Just insert ’15’ in the CFM input field, and you get the result in this format (screenshot):

Let’s have a look at the equation that converts CFM to L/min:
CFM To L/min Formula
We can convert between these two units because they are both units that denote the same thing: airflow (usually in HVAC units). Here’s what they mean:
- CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute. 1 CFM is a volume of 1 cubic foot (ft3) of air moving within 1 minute.
- LPM or L/min stands for Liters Per Minute. 1 LPM is a volume of 1 L (dm3) of air moving within 1 minute. Note: We use LPM and L/min interchangeably.
We see that both of these units are “per minute”. That’s great! We only need to convert cubic feet to liters to get this useful relationship:
1 CFM = 28.3168 L/min
Basically, 1 CFM is equal to 28.3168 liters per minute. Based on this, we can write the following CFM to L/min formula:
L/min = CFM × 28.3168
Now that we have the equation, let’s solve this example:
How many L/min is 400 CFM? We just insert 400 CFM in the equation above like this (with the result):
L/min (400 CFM) = 400 CFM × 28.3168 = 11,326.72 L/min
We see that 400 CFM is equal to 11,326.72 LPM.
