L/min or LPM (Liters Per Minute, also abbr. as ltr/min or lit/min) and CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) are both units of airflow (in HVAC, for example). Converting between these two units is not exactly easy; that’s why we created an L/min to CFM calculator that does this conversion automatically (insert L/min, get CFM).
Below the calculator, we will also look at the formula for this conversion. On top of that, you will get a 1-10,000 Ltr/min to CFM conversion chart you can quickly use. Here’s the calculator:
Let’s solve one example with this calculator just to illustrate how it works:
Example: How many CFM is 500 L/min? Just insert ‘500’ in the L/min input field, and you will get this result (screenshot):

We can immediately see that 500 L/min is equal to 17.66 CFM. For reverse conversion – CFM to L/min – we have prepared this CFM to L/min calculator.
Here is how you can calculate that manually:
L/min To CFM Formula
Both CFM and LPM are units of airflow (per minute). The only difference is that the volume of air (in HVAC) is expressed in cubic feet (ft3) in CFM, and in liter (dm3) in LPM. Here is the conversion relationship we need:
L/min = 0.03531466621 CFM
Basically, 1 Ltr/min or LPM is equal to 0.03531466621 CFM. From this, we can write the following L/min to CFM formula:
CFM = L/min × 0.03531466621
To convert L/min to CFM, we have to multiply L/min by 0.03531466621 (more significant digits = higher precision).
Example: How many CFM is 75 L/min? Let’s insert 75 L/min in the upper equation like this:
CFM (75 L/min) = 75 L/min × 0.03531466621 = 2.65 CFM
We have calculated that 75 L/min is equivalent to 2.65 CFM. Putting all these digits in a hand calculator is bothersome, that’s why the online calculator above does this math automatically.
For even quicker LPM to CFM conversion, you can just check this conversion chart:
Ltr/min To CFM Conversion Chart
| L/min Or LPM (Liters Per Minute): | CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute): |
| 1 L/min | 0.0353 CFM |
| 5 L/min | 0.18 CFM |
| 10 L/min | 0.35 CFM |
| 20 L/min | 0.71 CFM |
| 30 L/min | 1.06 CFM |
| 40 L/min | 1.41 CFM |
| 50 L/min | 1.77 CFM |
| 60 L/min | 2.12 CFM |
| 70 L/min | 2.47 CFM |
| 80 L/min | 2.83 CFM |
| 90 L/min | 3.18 CFM |
| 100 L/min | 3.53 CFM |
| 200 L/min | 7.06 CFM |
| 300 L/min | 10.59 CFM |
| 400 L/min | 14.13 CFM |
| 500 L/min | 17.66 CFM |
| 600 L/min | 21.19 CFM |
| 700 L/min | 24.72 CFM |
| 800 L/min | 28.25 CFM |
| 900 L/min | 31.78 CFM |
| 1,000 L/min | 35.31 CFM |
| 2,000 L/min | 70.63 CFM |
| 3,000 L/min | 105.94 CFM |
| 4,000 L/min | 141.26 CFM |
| 5,000 L/min | 176.57 CFM |
| 6,000 L/min | 211.89 CFM |
| 7,000 L/min | 247.20 CFM |
| 8,000 L/min | 282.52 CFM |
| 9,000 L/min | 317.83 CFM |
| 10,000 L/min | 353.15 CFM |
Now, you can just read the L/min to CFM equivalent from this chart. You can see, for example, that 100 L/min is equal to 3.53 CFM, and 1,000 L/min is equal to 35.31 CFM.
